Adaptative Tube Skin

Adaptative tube skin proposes an array of tubes performing homogeneously.
Inside the tubes, water circulates in a closed circuit, optimizing water consumption. This water feeds two different functions: 1) a hydroponic cultivation; 2) a radiant cooling system.
The continuous sequence develops as follows: Nutrients are added to the water (for the hydroponic cultivation), then water gets refrigerated/heated and lastly, a control is carried over the water before it starts feeding the functions. Then, during the first surfaced section, a public area -covered by the tubes- is conditioned through a temperature exchange. After this section, the water follows to the next: a hydroponic cultivation.
The whole structure allows for shading elements to be mounted, that together with overgrowing vegetation provide protection.
Sustainability is understood as doing more with less: One single element as an answer. The tubes are infrastructure, media and expression. They cooperate with the surrounding environment and create diversity.
Water is a precious resource. The architecture that comes has no option but to re-think its position about water. The knowledge and technology is there for us to grasp and be combined in new and sustainable skins.
