Where did the idea for this competition come from?
Transsolar KlimaEngineering presented "Cloudsacpes" at the 12th Architecture Biennale in Venice in cooperation with Tetsuo Kondo Architects. They are the first engineering firm to participate in the Architecture Biennale. The installation is an abstraction of a climate phenomena which unveils the techniques used in their practice, that usually remain unseen. Next to the visual cloudscapes, Transsolar wants to create a virtual cloudscape: an online platform where people can post their innovative ideas about sustainable design. The first step for this is the online competition Cloudscap.es Award, which will be publicized in a broad media campaign to encourage public participation. By sponsoring sustainable ideas, Transsolar, with their international partners, intends to mobilize the creative power of design to explore and embody the most innovative sustainable techniques.
